AFTER AN ABNORMAL DROUGHT LASTING
MORE THAN 20 MONTHS
with a total absence of precipitation for 6 months
(From May 2012 to October 2012)
IN NOVEMBER 2012, A VIOLENT FLOOD OCCURRED
The area of Orvieto was hit by a meteorological phenomenon with an entirely abnormal intensity (approximately 350 mm of water in two days), with torrential rainfall causing flooding and serious damage, landslides and the collapse of slopes throughout the area.
This has not happened for over 100 years
THE SLOPES PROTECTED BY PRATI ARMATI® HAVE SHOWN NO SURFACE INSTABILITIES OR SIGNS OF EROSION.

BLUE-GREY MARLS CLAYS AND FLYSCH at 900m in southern Italy

Blue-grey marls clays and flysh are present in Basilicata region (Southern Italy), specifically in the Val d'Agri area and in the surrounding valleys at an average height of 900 m. The slopes based on these litotypes are very difficult to tackle in order to stop erosion and to improve their appearance making them green and flowered, also due to the extreme climates conditions:  cold winters with lots of snow, and hot summers. The area  experienced several landslides and mudslides, both superficial and deep

RAILWAY IN QUARRY AREA

This installation was requested by the multinational SOLVAY that extracts basic materials for their production from the quarry "San Carlo". In order to improve the materials transportation, previously realized by a cable car, it was necessary to construct a new road and a railway. The whole area was significant both from the landscape and the environment aspect. In order to regreen the various rock types present (clay, more or less fractured limestone, broken arid quarry materials), special mixtures of herbaceous species needed to be selected.

ENVIRONMENTAL RECOVERY

Environmental recovery works on the slopes of ANAS roads of (ANAS is the manager of the Italian road and highway network of national interest). This installation in Val d'Agri (Basilicata region, southern Italy) confirmed that thanks to PRATI ARMATI® the need of maintenance is completely zeroed.
